Frequently asked questions

What evidence do I need to make a claim?

When you submit your claim, you will be asked for evidence to support it. This includes:

  1. A Statement of Fitness to Work, also known as a  ‘fit note’.
Your doctor will be able to provide this. Your claim amount will be calculated based on the start and end date of your illness or injury, so it’s important you check this is correct.
  2. Your earnings with Deliveroo over the 8 weeks before your illness or assault
You can find this in the Activity section of your Deliveroo rider account. If you don’t have these to hand please feel free to continue without uploading, we can request these from Deliveroo after your claim has been submitted.

For full details, check the policy wording provided.

How do I make a claim for sickness or assault?

If your doctor has declared you medically unfit to work for over 7 days, and you can evidence this with a Statement of Fitness to Work (‘fit note’),  you can claim for up to 15 days of payment at £35 per day to support lost income.

You can claim payments from day 8 of your illness or injuries, but you will be paid back to the first day that you were declared sick by your doctor, as certified in your ‘fit note’.

You will need to provide evidence of your doctor’s declaration by uploading a ‘fit note’ as part of your claim, or evidence of your hospital admission.

Your benefit will be calculated based on the ‘from’ and ‘to’ dates in the ‘fit note’ you provide with your claim. Self-certified sickness will not be accepted as evidence.

You should ask your doctor to backdate your fit note if your illness or injuries started before you saw your doctor.

For full details, check the policy wording provided.

I’ve been in an accident/suffered an injury. Can I claim?

The sickness & assault insurance benefits are not available for issues resulting from accidents or accidental injuries.

If you were active on the Deliveroo app at the time of your accident – or had been active within the last hour – then you may be able to raise a Personal Accident claim to support you for lost earnings during your recovery period.

If this is the case we would recommend that you read through the details of the Personal Accident insurance cover.
