Do we offer E scooter insurance?

Unfortunately we don’t currently offer electric scooter insurance as electric scooters are classified as ‘Powered transporters’. This is different to E bikes which are classified as Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPC).

Electric bikes that are classed as EAPC are covered by our E bike insurance. As they’re legal in the UK. If you’d like to know more, you can get more information about our electric bike insurance policies here. We’re able to offer a 25% discount in premium for electric bikes.

Privately owned electric scooters are only legal on private land. It is currently against the law in the UK to ride e-scooters in public areas. This includes roads, pavements, footpaths and more.

The UK government is looking at electric scooters intently and currently running trials around them. It’s only a matter of time before the rules around E scooters change. With that will also come a change in insurance requirements.
