Winners Announced: Bikmo’s British Cycling Club of the Year 2023

-

Pendle Panthers + Cycle Sport Pendle have won this year’s Bikmo’s British Cycling Club of the Year 2023 competition and received a £1,000 prize!

The competition was to find British Cycling clubs that champion everything that makes clubs great. From engaging local communities in cycling, to supporting club members and promoting cycling for all.

After over 60 fantastic entries, Pendle Panthers + Cycle Sport Pendle were selected as the overall winner due to their all-inclusive family spirit and overall support of the community, through events such as their “Summer Jam”, that not only showcases the club, but also raises lots of money for local and national causes.

The £1000 prize from Bikmo will help support investing in kids BMX bikes to hire out for £1 at their sessions, purchase more full face helmets to lend out, and be able to pay for the maintenance of their fleet of bikes for their “little rippers!”

It will also help fund commissioning a short video to showcase two of their club members who have recently been selected to represent GB at the World BMX Championships in Glasgow in August, helping raise the profile of the club with this amazing achievement.

Erika from Pendle Panthers said:

“The Pendle Panthers/Cycle Sport Pendle family are delighted to win the Bikmo’s British Cycling Club of the Year award. It is the culmination of an incredible year and will make such a difference to young cyclists in Pendle!”

British Cycling are further supporting the club with a Level 1 Coaching Programme, worth £1,000, to help support the clubs development.

“Bikmo’s Club of the Year initiative facilitates more opportunities for clubs to grow the sport and make cycling enjoyable for all. The work that Pendle Panthers have done so far in making BMX accessible to all is fantastic, and this award is testament to the hard work of their community of coaches, riders and volunteers.”

Marcus Bloomfield, Great Britain Cycling Team’s Olympic Podium BMX Supercross Coach

David George, CEO of Bikmo said:

“It’s been fantastic to see the increase in diversity of clubs and the riders they represent during this years competition and therefore says a lot about how strong Cycle Sport Pendle / Pendle Panthers proposition is for it to be a clear winner.

We’re delighted to be supporting the club to invest in BMXs to hire out for their community which we hope will inspire a new generation of riders to get active on 2 wheels.”
