Road Cycle Insurance – FAQs

I have 3 bikes – can I cover them under one policy?

Yes – we’re riders who suffer from n+1 syndrome, so our Road Cycle Insurance policy was built to be great value whether you have 1 or 10 bikes in your garage.

You even get up to a 50% multi-bike discount when you insure multiple bikes but leave some of their value at home.

You only need one policy for your whole household to cover all your bikes.

Can you cover my bike on a training camp in Tenerife?

Your Bikmo Road Cycle Insurance policy covers you for 90 days worldwide, which includes any spring training camps to avoid Irish winter weather. You don’t even need to let us know, just enjoy the sun and get the miles in.

We even cover your bikes and kit in transit. If an airline trashes your bike before you get there, you’ve peace of mind with our alternative cycle hire benefit too.

Full Road policy benefits
I own a lot of expensive bike accessories and clothing – are they covered?

With your Bikmo Road Cycle Insurance you get €250 or 10% of your total sum insured towards clothing and kit.

So, if you insure €3,000 bikes, you get €300 cover for clothing and helmets, plus a further €300 towards accessories.

Almost enough for that Rapha jacket then!

Accessories that are covered
I’m taking part in my first sportive – do I need extra cover?

Nope – Bikmo’s Road Cycle insurance policy covers you for sportives as standard, allowing you to focus on reaching the next feed station with peace of mind.

You can even activate your ‘Returning home’ cover of up to €150 if you have an incident during the sportive and your bike is damaged.

Events that are covered
Do I need to take a lock with me on my Sunday ride? I’m worried about what happens when I have a coffee stop.

Firstly, and most importantly, if you leave your bike unattended and it’s not locked, you will not be covered under our Road Cycle Insurance policy.

We appreciate that there are times when, as cyclists, we’re tempted to just pop into a cafe or shop to refuel during a long ride as it’ll only take a minute but, sadly, it only takes a minute for someone to steal your bike too. So, it’s essential that you either get your riding partner to mind it or lock it up!
