Compare Cycle Insurance

Transparency is core to our mission of protecting the world’s cyclists and we believe riders should have all the facts at hand when deciding which insurer to protect them and their bikes. That’s why we’ve created this compare cycle insurance page.

A great cycle insurance policy is one that provides real value, covers your needs, is simple to purchase and manage, and ultimately is there for you when you need it the most.

We’ve therefore created this comparison table for you to compare cycle insurance and our cover benefits alongside other cycle insurers. Whether you’re looking at our cover specifically or just bicycle insurance in general, we hope this cycle insurance comparison table provides some useful information.

Pricing information is shown within this comparison table and a full PDF document is based on what benefits are included as standard, with no optional add-ons. The pricing is based on the Bike Value stated, with the inclusion of £250 for both clothing and accessories or £500 total encompassing both.

Compare home vs cycle insurance

Another consideration when comparing cycle insurance is the cover home insurers may offer. It can be cheaper to add a bike to your existing home insurance policy, but it is important to look at the coverage offered, as it won’t be as comprehensive as cycle-specific insurance. We’ve looked at the important factors to consider here.

Value

As you can see from the comparison table, we offer a large number of benefits with our base coverage. When a customer takes out a policy with us, they know exactly what they are getting when choosing a cover level. The majority of cycle insurers offer many of the same benefits or similar, but most offer these as optional extras, increasing the premium you’d pay if you chose those benefits.

With no trip length limitations or country limits, we are the only cycle-specific insurer to offer full 365 days worldwide cover. Customers are not penalised for choosing to pay monthly either, with the offer of 0% interest on monthly payments, something that can’t be said for all insurers.

We’re also able to offer a further 25% on e-bikes. This followed research we carried out from a survey and our own data.

Trust

We publish our claims data each year as part of our Open Project, including the recent publishing of our 2022 claims data. The transparency of an insurer is an important consideration, and we try to be this wherever possible.

Hiscox underwrites our insurance policies. They have over 100 years of experience in insurance, protecting people and businesses of all sizes, which means they’ve had time to refine their insurance policies and customer service. It’s worth considering who the underwriter of an insurer is, as they will have an impact on the policy offered and any potential claims.

Experience

At Bikmo, we’re all cyclists in one form or another, and this is the same for our customer service team. The team is full of bike geeks, so if the worst does happen, our customers get support from people who know what they are talking about.

Unlike several insurers, we also have online claims functionality, making a painful process as painless as possible.

We have a 4.6/5 rating on both Trustpilot and Feefo to back this up, as well as Feefo’s Platinum Trusted Service Award.

Solidity

With our policy, you know exactly what you’re paying for. We don’t increase customers’ premiums, even if they’ve needed to make a claim. The premium with our policies is based on the value of bikes a customer chooses to insure.

We don’t offer new customer or first-year discounts. Therefore we do not penalise customers who choose to stay with us year on year. Some insurers provide first-year discounts of up to 30% for new customers, but this is removed the following year.

Other insurers, such as Laka, state what you’d ‘usually’ pay, but if there are more claims that month from other customers (the collective), you could end up paying more each month. This is the case even if you’ve not needed to make a claim yourself or even ridden your bike a lot that month!

If you have any questions about our benefits, please visit our full benefits page or look at our FAQs. Can’t find an answer there? Please feel free to contact our customer service team, full of bike geeks, via email support@bikmo.com or phone 01244 470337.
