When searching Amazon bike locks, it’s important to read and compare the product descriptions carefully. Because the listings are written by individual retailers on the Amazon marketplace. They can often be missing key information, such as the Sold Secure rating on bike locks.
Choose a lock with the best Sold Secure rating
Sold Secure is a security rating given to bike locks after rigorous strength-testing by the Master Locksmiths Association. Bike locks are rated on a rising scale from Bronze (least secure), to Silver, Gold and Diamond (most secure). With the amount of time it would take to break the lock increasing as you go up the scale.
This is the most important thing you should look at when choosing your bike lock, whether you get it from Amazon or elsewhere, and especially if you want your bicycle insurance to remain valid in the event of a theft.

Amazon’s recommended product lists will be full of great offers, but the best bike locks on Amazon (i.e. the highest Sold Secure rated), are not always in these lists.
If the Sold Secure rating is not clear in the product description on Amazon. You can always check the Sold Secure Approved Product Search to see if it’s listed. If it’s not Sold Secure rated or is a lower rating to the value of your bike, our advice is to purchase another lock.
