So what a weekend it was for the downhill competitors up at the not so sunny Scottish Highlands, as we saw the British Downhill Series return for it’s second round up at Fort William. In typical British fashion, the weather was far from pleasant, but that failed to stop our very own Katy Curd coming away with her second podium finish of the season. Katy Curd BDS

A very wet and windy weekend

So I think its fair to say no one anticipated just how much of a gruelling weekend it would be weather wise up at Fort Bill, however come Saturday things looked so dire that the gondola had to remain closed. Uplift yesterday was declared impossible, and so the organisers decided that the race would instead run from the lower section of the ‘classic’ Fort William course. This was less than ideal for the spectators making their annual trip to the race from all over the world, but hey I guess thats British weather for you.

The show must go on

The race was an exciting one none the less, and we were super stoked to see our ambassador Katy Curd finish with her second podium finish of the season with a commendable 4th position.

We caught up with Katy today who had this to say: “Really happy to finish 4th in amongst these girls. Although it wasn’t the race it was meant to be on the brutal World Cup track, it was still a good fun weekend and good close racing. I’m feeling faster on the bike every weekend, and just looking forward to Fort William World Cup in a couple of weeks more than ever now.”

The year ahead

With this being Katy’s first year back to downhill after coming away crowned 4X World Champion last year, it’s clear she’s been putting in the training, and is for sure in the running for that rainbow jersey. Good luck for the rest of the season Katy!
