In 2014, we partnered up with the amazingly talented Velocity Globalbike Cycling team and their junior riders as their official cycle insurance partner. From the get go, they have blown our socks off, winning two National Championship titles last year with the aim to build on their successes for 2016.

European Championships, Italy

Bikmo riders Matthew Walls and Reece Wood who make up the strong GB Male Junior race team put in a stunning performance at the European Championships, setting a new national record only to break it a week later at the World Championships.

The European Junior & U23 Track Championships took place in Montichiari, Italy, where the team – Reece Wood, Matthew Walls (Velocity Globalbike Cycling Team), Ethan Hayter and Fred Wright won gold by finishing the race at 4:04.142. The time to beat was 4:08.402 which was set back in 2012.

Fast forward to the Junior Track Championships in Aigle, Switzerland last Thursday, the team surpassed their record to race a 4:03.863 in their semi-final ride against the Danish.

Silver medal at Junior Track Cycling Championships

The glory didn’t stop as Matt Walls then went on to bring home his second medal of the championships with a silver medal in the men’s points race.

“It was a hectic race, pretty much full on the whole time. We all found it tough – there was a big crash behind me so it was quite chaotic; I took the chance and managed to get the lap”, said Walls.

One thing is for sure, all of the team are proving their riding abilities and making us proud as they continue to represent our nation. Good luck for the rest of the season boys!
