Triathlete and coach

When Claire first started competing in triathlon, she never enjoyed the bike leg. After training and seeing her progression, she has now developed a passion and love for it, so much so that it is now her strongest discipline.

This Great Britain age-grouper can often be found swooning over her beautiful girls (the bikes) or competing in various races around the UK, feeding her addiction and chasing her dream of a podium place on a world level.

What bikes do you own?

Orbea (B) which I use as my winter/commuter bike, Liv Envie advanced tri bike (Olivia), Trek Speed concept Project one (TRex)

Aspirational bike?

I am very lucky to have just bought it – TRex my Trek speed concept, she is absolutely stunning, the paint work is incredible and has all the gadgets a triathlete could want, I can’t wait to race with her this season.

Favourite ride or trail?

I have two really; when the sun is shining there is no better place than in North Wales, but otherwise it has to be Majorca – Sa Calobra, Puig Major and Cap de Formentor are a few of my favourite routes.

Favourite rider?

Dame Sarah Storey – she is truly inspirational in terms of what she has achieved, not only as a road and track cyclist in both para and able bodied terms, but also as a swimmer too.

Favourite cafe/coffee shop?

I don’t drink coffee (we won’t hold this against her), and normally I like to get my ride done and get home (as usually I have more training to do afterwards) but, on the longer more leisurely rides, anywhere that serves good cakes (especially brownies and carrot cake) and huge mugs of tea is a winner for me.

Coffee of choice?

Huge mugs of tea all the way

What motivates you about riding?

I love the freedom it gives you, that you can just completely escape everyday life and work, being out in nature, exploring in the fresh air and clearing your mind, all while pushing yourself as hard or as easy as you like.

Riding tunes (turbo…obviously)?

My favourites would be old classic dance music, 80’s tunes and anything I can sing to and block out the pain.

When not riding, where can we find you?

Swimming, running or in the gym.

Favourite thing about Bikmo?

The passion that the team has for what they do, they are all super keen, enthusiastic, geeky amazing cyclists and I feel that comes across on the website, by the level of customer service delivered and the products and coverage that Bikmo offers. I also love that not only is your beloved bike covered but all your kit is as well.
